ChatGPT prompts for studying without cheating
Use these prompts to make your own thinking easier to inspect, not to outsource answers.
The safest way to use ChatGPT for studying is to ask it to structure material, quiz you, and point out gaps. Avoid prompts that produce finished assignments or hide the work from you.
Lecture outline prompt
Turn these notes into a structured outline. Separate definitions, claims, examples, procedures, formulas, and open questions. Do not add facts that are not in the notes. Mark unclear sections as "needs verification."
Concept check prompt
Write five conceptual questions that test whether I understand this material. Avoid questions that can be answered by copying a definition. Do not give answers until I attempt them.
Confusion finder prompt
List three common confusions between the concepts in these notes. For each confusion, explain the difference in plain English and give one boundary case.
Source verification prompt
Make a two-column table. Column one is each claim from the study note. Column two is the exact lecture, reading, or textbook source I should verify before trusting it.
Exam review prompt
Compress this week's material into exam handles, common traps, and retrieval questions. Keep uncertain items under a separate "verify" section.
